Purchase Managers offer potential solutions for supply chain crises

On Saturday, April 27, Istanbul played host to the 3rd summit of Strategic Procurement Association (SSD). Procurement experts and specialists convened at the Strategic Procurement Association Summit to assess the growing number of supply chain issues and the best ways to mitigate those risks in light of record levels of involvement.

With the help of the PeraPole e-Procurement Platform as a "Platinum Sponsor" and the unprecedented level of interest and participation from procurement and supply chain experts, the summit considered the growing global supply chain issues.

Presenters at the summit themed "Resilient Procurement and Risk Management Supply Chains" included economist Mahfi Eğilmez, Turgay Durak former CEO of Koç Holding , and artist Haluk Levent, founder of the Ahbap Association. They provided insightful information and fielded questions from purchasing managers and experts.

Besides PeraPole, a number of companies and organisations sponsored the summit as Platinum Sponsors, adding value to the gathering with their displays and activities. These included Epal Turkey, Fanuc, Hansa Flex, and Trio Mobil.

"We have gained great experience in purchasing during the challenging times we have been through," said Evren Cibelik, Chairman of the Board of Directors of SSD. Concerns about a recession, the economic instability that followed the epidemic, regional and global geopolitical tensions, and the impact of trade disputes on supply chains all persist.

According to Cibelik, companies are implementing agile supply chain strategies to stay afloat in these difficult times. He also stressed the critical importance of incorporating the rapidly growing fields of technology and digital transformation into supply chains.

In the "Women Leaders in Industry" panel that was organised as part of the summit: Özlem Kurt, a member of the SSD board and managing partner at Kurt & Partners, Selcen Faydasıçok, chairperson of the board of the Faydasıçok education foundation, Neslihan Yeşilyurt, board member at Daikin Yeşilyurt, Ahu Bade Özkan, and Aylin Kurt, chairperson of Kurtsan Holding took part as speakers.
